Well, I have a job interview today. It is for a call centre where my best friend is in Human Resources. They handle customer services for an airline, and that is the department my interview is with. So, I finally have an interview, and I know I need the job, but it is not exactly my dream job. I am kind of hoping that I will get home this afternoon and have a message waiting from a local community organization that I have applied to. They need an administrative assistant. That sounds much more interesting!!
Anyway, wish me luck!

Promised Pictures
Way back at Annemarie and Sam's wedding, we took some fun pictures in their apartment and then put them all over as a "prank." I promised that I would post them on my blog, so here are some of my favourites. I will try to email all of them to the appropriate people really soon. If you want them and you are not part of the peeps in the picas or amp and sam, then please let me know so I can get them to you!

Enjoy!!

Enjoy!!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. I have been on the internet lots for the past while but I have been searching for jobs and not having much luck, so there is not much to say. I have sent out lots of applications and resumes but so far no responses. Grr. My best friend Pam is in Human Resources at a call centre and Air France is one of their clients. So I might get a job there, answering the phone in french. I just hope my french is still good enough!! It is much harder over the phone!! I have also applied for several office type jobs. I HATE job hunting!!
Last weekend my Waterloo Girls went to Tdot :) for a couple days. We stayed in a fun hotel and did lots of touristy things. I bought this really great handmade fairly traded skirt made of vintage saris that you can wear three different ways and is reversable. I LOVE IT!! I got slapped on the ass by some crazy guy on the street. I didn't know exactly how to react to that, but since other guys on the street started yelling at the guy I figured I didn't have to do much. The other girls were pretty shocked I think. Maybe all the marriage proposals and being followed around grocery stores has numbed me to it a little, but I wasn't too creeped out. It was actually kind of funny. As we walked towards this guy he was acting all crazy, throwing a coin up in the air and stuff - pretty sure he was high, or maybe not all there - and then he winds up and I could see it coming but couldn't really do anything about it. Crazy people in Toronto!
We also went to the docks nightclub on saturday night. We had a lot of fun and left around 2:30am. Sadly we had a hell of a time getting a cab back to our hotel. They all kept telling us that they had already recieved a call or that they were waiting for a better fare. Apparently 10.00 is not a good enough fare! After meeting a bus full of fun people headed to Brantford, several desperate guys who had yet to pick up for the evening (gee, wonder why?...) and many people in the same position as ourselves, we finally got a cab and got back to the hotel at 3:30am. It as a bit of an adventure!
As for the pizza mentioned in a comment on Paul's blog, it never happened. For one thing, my parents have no yeast which I figured out just before I set out to make the dough and then realized that it was already 27 degrees in the house and I didn't really feel like turning the oven on in that heat. So pizza is on the menu for next week and yeast is on the shopping list! Details to follow.

family time and job woes
Saturday was my aunt Rhonda's funeral. It was sad, because we will miss her. She was such an amazing person and we are blessed to have known her. But it was not sad for her. She had a long life, much longer than anyone could have predicted. Now she is with God, with my grandmother and she can sing whenever she wants, as loudly as she wants and no will tell her to be quiet ever again. These are happy thoughts.
It was neat that nearly all my cousins were there. Even my counsins who live in BC and Florida made it. We don't see eachother all that often and we are not as close as we used to be, so it was really great to spend the majority of two days together. Families are really cool!
Today I spent time on the internet looking for jobs to apply for. What a horrible, tortuous job!! So, I have applied to a few places and will apply to several more. I hate being unemployed! I get very bored with myself very quickly. There is only so much scrapbooking, organizing and cleaning one can do before one completely looses one's mind!! Of course none of the jobs I have applied for are in my field. My degree is not at all helpful. This is partly because I am too broke to move to Ottawa, Toronto or wherever, but it doesn't really matter since nearly all the jobs require a Master's degree. That is ironic because most of the good Master's programs require three years of "field experience"... catch 22! So Laura is bored and frustrated and hiding in her room. Sigh

Sad news
My dad is the second oldest of eight children. I have a pretty large family! My dad's youngest sister, Rhonda, was born with down's syndrome. My grandparents were told that she wouldn't live to be five years old. This morning at around 4am she died, just a few days short of her 42nd birthday.
My aunt Rhonda was a lovely, cheerful and feircely loving woman. I remember back when my home church was really small, before we built the new addition she and my grandparents would sit at the back of the sanctuary. She would sing her heart out and loved hymns. At family gatherings she was always so excited to see all of us kids. She would grab us in big hugs and exclaim "You!!... Me!!" saying she wanted to spend time with us. She loved princess Diana and her room at the nursing home where she lived was full of pictures and books and nick nacks, all centering on princess di, or on disney princesses. I still have a hook rug that she made for me and every year at christmas she would pick out christmas gifts for all of us kids. For the past several years we have gotten different christmas ornaments. She loved crafts, time hortons, ice cream and her family. She loved going out to timmies or to macdonalds and at the end of any visit you could count on getting caught in a strong head lock of a hug with logs of kisses.
I visited her twice last week, and then again last night. She was quiet and her hugs lacked their usual strength. Last night she didn't even wake up. I am sad that she is gone. I will miss her enthusiasm and hugs. But she has not had an easy life and now she is with God, where she can sing praises without people snickering. She had a dream on sunday night about my grandmother, who died when I was ten. She's in a better place. Praise God, that even in the grief that comes with death we have reason to celebrate.
